WHAT IS THE MISSION OF
YOUR BUSINESS?
To help young mothers be the best version
of themselves and to raise healthy babies.
YOU MIGHT BE SURPRISED TO KNOW:
My first real job was with the Macon
Police Department. I started right out
of high school. I was not old enough to
carry a firearm, so I worked as a police
cadet until I was old enough to go to
Macon Tech to earn my law enforcement
certification in 1989. I served as the
police chief in Montezuma. I was a teen
mom and single parent, yet I overcame
the obstacles of being a teen mother. I did
not allow that to define me or what I was
going to be.
WHAT HAS BEEN THE MOST
CHALLENGING PART OF BEING
A FE MALE BUSINESS OWNER OR
PROFESSIONAL WOMAN?
Not being taken seriously. If everyone
would follow the teaching of Dr. Martin
King Jr., "Don't judge people by the color
of their skin but by the contents of their
character."
HOW CAN WOMEN BETTER SUPPORT
EACH OTHER?
By sharing information they have with
each other and by networking more and
uplifting each other.
IN FIVE YEARS, I _________.
Hope Mother's Nest will have enough
funding via partners and donors to service
Central Georgia. I am hoping to provide
enough diapers, strollers, car seats, cribs,
and other essential baby items to women
so they don't have to struggle so much. I
hope the young mothers with Mother's
Nest will earn the parenting skills needed
to raise healthy babies and be the best
version of themselves.
