Boucherie Festival celebrated its seventh
year of fundraising, educating, and
building community between butchers,
chefs, farmers, veterans, and foodies
on Jan. 13 - 15th at Comfort Farms in
Milledgeville, Georgia. The festival
is centered around the centuries-old
Cajun and Creole tradition of boucherie,
which translates directly from French
as "butchery" but entails the tradition
of an entire community gathering in the
early winter to slaughter whole hogs – a
massive undertaking, but one that the
community used to create and preserve
enough food to sustain them through the
season. Central Georgia's festival benefits
Stag Vets, Inc, a program that helps
combat veterans transition to civilian
life at Comfort Farms, the nation's first
Veterans Acute Crisis Agriculture Center.

featured a nativity scene in the front with
