Q: How do you create a sense of
family on your football teams?

"Families are generational. As someone who went to this school
and played football for it, I understand the history. Therefore, I can
use that information to remind them of what a Charger football
player has traditionally looked like, and it's their job to uphold that
standard. Student athletes at Central are expected to lead in every
aspect of their lives, and that, in turn, strengthens the blood line.
"Secondly, the only thing I promise my players and their
parents that the young men in this program will receive is love
and discipline in whatever order and amount needed. I firmly
believe you cannot lead young men in this day and age without
loving them through actions and words, but you can't discipline
them without them knowing it is coming from that place of love.
I'm going to treat them the same way I treat my son Elijah, and
my coaches echo those sentiments. I truly believe that helps
build that sense of family."

"We create a family and brotherhood atmosphere by doing
different activities with the team. We played dodgeball during
the summer, and we have started Spaghetti Wednesday for
fellowship and feeding the team. We spend a lot time together,
so we want to create the family atmosphere so that the players
will feel right at home."
