Kimberly Carballo, collaborative piano Amanda Russo Stante, mezzo-soprano Tuesday, Oct. 18 Kimberly Carballo serves as coordinating opera coach for Indiana University's Opera and Ballet Theater and as faculty in IU's Chamber Music and Collaborative Piano department. She is an active international performer and educator and also a strong advocate for local and global community engagement through music. Amanda Russo Stante is an experienced and versatile mezzo-soprano, known for her ability to master both feminine and pants roles on the operatic stage. From Octavian to Cendrillon, Dr. Stante has been recognized for her "highly theatrical, vocally persuasive" performances, which are "nothing short of stunning" (Herald Times). Her experience has taken her to The Glimmerglass Festival, Indiana University Opera Theater, Central City Opera and concert stages across the United States and Europe. Dr. Stante has appeared as a soloist with the Budapest Concert Orchestra, The Chamber Orchestra of Pittsburgh, The Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra, the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, the Akron Symphony Orchestra and the Wooster Symphony Orchestra. Dr. Stante is on the faculty at Susquehanna University, teaching private voice and other voice-related courses. Alan Schmitz, composition Tuesday, Nov. 8 Guest composer Alan Schmitz will be honored for his 70th birthday in a concert of his solo/chamber music. Schmitz earned bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of New Mexico and a Ph.D. in music theory and composition from Rutgers University. Recordings of his music are available on PARMA Records' Ravello Label. Matt Patnode, saxophone Wednesday, Nov. 16 Saxophonist Matthew Patnode is associate professor of saxophone and jazz studies at North Dakota State University in Fargo. He has earned degrees and certificates from the State University of New York at Potsdam, the Conservatoire de Bordeaux, France and Arizona State University. He has studied saxophone with Joseph Wytko, Joe Viola and Jean-Marie Lond. As a member of the FM Jazz Arts Big Band, he has performed with such noted artists as Buddy DeFranco, Jimmy Heath, Slide Hampton, Allen Vizzutti and Bud Shank. He has also performed in commercial groups backing up singers Ray Charles, Kurt Elling, Rosemary Clooney, Frankie Valli, Bobby Vinton, Wayne Newton, the Temptations and the Four Tops.
