here, to stay here, to have meetings here. It's a flowing,
open space to the outside with a welcoming ambiance."
A speakeasy-style cocktail bar tucked behind
the Woodward called Quill will complete the
experience on Second Street and Mulberry Lane.
The concept aims for guests to "experience Macon
like a Maconite," pioneered by proven partners
Moonhanger Group and NewTown Macon.
"We're entirely locally owned and operated. If
you book with us, you're really supporting Macon
residents," said The Woodward's General Manager
Sierra Stevens. Stevens explained that the hotel is
inspired by Central Georgia's literary history, so it
will be especially attractive to book lovers.
According to a study commissioned by Visit
Macon, the vibrant cultural life downtown can absorb
1,000 hotel rooms. Even more ideas to add hotel space
are in the works by other developers. Amesoeder
clearly describe the vision from the perspective of a
hotelier: "The renaissance that Macon has undergone
— we are trying to be a catalyst. We want to be an
ambassador for Macon to the outside world."
