Local educators get involved by designating funds from their own paychecks for the REACH scholarship. "Our staff recognizes the importance of training and education and has bought into investing in our students," said current Lamar County Schools Superintendent Dr. Jute Wilson. "We can't say enough about what an outstanding opportunity the REACH scholarship program is for deserving students." Having an endowment fund to also support the school system's participation in this program helps ensure the success of the program, which has already aided 35 students and is set to select another five this year. "Partnering with the Community Foundation for this endowment fund brings an extra level of credibility to our efforts," shared Edwards.
