Grab a pen, paper and your calendar. I invite you to do this with a child or a friend. Find two minutes today to sit quietly, focus on your breath and call to action the power of 22. Sit comfortably, bring your hands to your knees, soften your gaze and elongate your spine. Press your thumb, pinkie and ring finger together, elongating your remaining fingers; this mudra (sacred hand gesture) activates your prana (vital life-force). Inhale to prepare. Wake up your personal prana. Get in touch with the prana of those around you. Exhale deeply. Continue this breath and begin to call to mind the qualities of your foundation. Continue this meditative breath for at least two minutes, and up to 22. Complete the meditation and make two columns on your paper. In the first column, write attributes of your foundation and what makes you feel grounded. In the second column, write 22 points of gratitude. Set your calendar to remind you on the 22nd of each month to edit this list. Each month, for 12 months, take 22 minutes to focus on your list. How is it working for you? Use the time after the meditation to edit your list. By the next winter solstice on Dec. 21, 2022, you will have what may look like scribbles. But, it will be your action plan to continue building with confidence and to face whatever may come next. THE POWER AND PEACE OF 22 BY MARIA ANDRADE Maria Andrade is a certified Grounded Kids Yoga teacher. Contact her at 478-361-7246 or learn more at groundedkids.com. N umerology, the study of the symbolism of numbers, teaches that the number 22 is a master number, the most power number of all. Its high vibration and quality represent ultimate power and creativity. It is perhaps no coincidence that in 2022 our communities will emerge from the protective COVID-19 quarantine shells of 2020 and 2021. Many of us are emerging from profound loss, grief and even depression. We may have been forced to face our deepest and darkest emotional selves. Perhaps our closest relationships were challenged, our spirits shattered and our raw authentic selves exposed. As we stand up and walk out from this cocoon, consider the number 22 and the energy of adaptability, insight and connection. With this intuitive nature supporting us, 22 brings visionaries, doers and builders to action in progressive ways. The practicality of this inspiration is to serve humankind. We are called to be self-confident and to be the master builders of our great plans. In 2020, our foundations crumbled. In 2022, we will rebuild with the tools and materials that we have discovered. Our foundations may have been destroyed, but we emerge from the rubble to discover what is truly important. Positive thoughts bring positive things.
