SCOTT MITCHELL, OWNER 522 CHERRY ST., MACON 478-227-7785 | TRAVISJEANEMPORIUM.COM What is the mission of your business? Travis Jean Emporium was created in 2018 out of a desire to offer an unparalleled retail experience in Macon. It's a place where artisans and artists can showcase locally made goods and fair-trade products from around the globe. What are the most gratifying, and most difficult, parts of your job? Being able to offer a space where ALL people are not just welcomed, but also celebrated. The most difficult part is realizing that bigotry still exists. What makes you a strong leader? I have thick skin and am not afraid to stand up for what is right. How do you serve our community inclusively? We are proud to give back to the community that so graciously supports us by partnering with local nonprofits to ensure that Macon is a place we are proud to call home. Many of our products give a portion of their proceeds to charities that are working to end discrimination, human trafficking, hunger and homelessness. We believe that change is not just an idea! What was the best business advice you ever received? Let everyone know your values. Don't be afraid. You might lose a few customers, but you will gain so much more. You might be surprised to know: I am the only Certified LGBT Business Enterprise in Macon.
