Mercer University Townsend School of Music | music.mercer.edu BeautyFull Collaboration Kyung-A Yoo, collaborative piano Thursday, Nov. 4 Join with new faculty collaborative pianist Kyung-A Yoo. faculty, and students of the Townsend School of Music in a varied genre and exhilarating program of captivating chamber music. The concert will feature music of Ives, Still, Jalbert and Barber's Souvenirs, Op. 28 (for piano four hands). BeautyFull Reconnection Kyung-A Yoo, collaborative piano Boson Mo, violin Friday, Feb. 18 "Decadent Music to Celebrate Our Friendship: 2012-2022." Collaborative pianist and School of Music faculty member Kyung-A Yoo will be joined by Boson Mo, a member of the Houston Symphony and former acting Assistant Concertmaster of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra in a recital featuring the music of Auerbach, Stravinsky, and more. Have You Heard This One? Timothy McReynolds, collaborative piano Jennifer Piazza-Pick, soprano Friday, Oct. 29 R. Timothy McReynolds, celebrated vocal collaborator and new faculty member of Mercer's Townsend School of Music, joins Georgia College and State University faculty member and internationally acclaimed soprano Jennifer Piazza-Pick, champion of American women composers, in presenting a recital of new music by living composers. Early Music Splendor Jack Mitchener, organ Tuesday, Nov. 9 An exploration of keyboard music from the medieval, Renaissance, and baroque eras. The Richards & Fowkes organ in Fickling Hall was designed to play repertoire of the 16th and 17th centuries, and that literature will be featured in this recital. Come enjoy and share in the beauty, elegance, and excitement of early music! Faculty Jazz Quintet Monty Cole, saxophone Marcus Reddick, percussion Friday, Jan. 21 Mercer Jazz Faculty Monty Cole and Marcus Reddick team up with special guests Kevin Bales, Neal Starkey, and Jeremiah Roberts to present an evening of small group jazz. From classic bebop to the present, selections will include jazz masterworks and new works premiered at this concert. Tubonium Nathan Gay, euphonium Tom Stein, tuba Friday, Feb. 4 An evening of exciting tuba and euphonium music as performed by Tom Stein and Nate Gay. Stein teaches at the University of Missouri—Kansas City Conservatory and Gay at the Townsend School of Music. Cabaret: Unmasked! Martha Malone, soprano Timothy McReynolds, collaborative piano Tuesday, Feb. 22 We're celebrating life, from the glorious to the absurd. In this program Tom Lehrer may rub elbows with Rodgers & Hammerstein; Johnny Mercer or Stephen Sondheim might make an appearance; Aaron Copland and Johann Strauss might show up for the party... and you're invited! Townsend Presents Faculty Artist Recitals Unless otherwise noted, all performances are ee and will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Neva Langley Fickling Hall in the McCorkle Music Building on Mercer's Macon campus. Townsend All-Faculty Gala Tuesday, Aug. 31 The Townsend concert season opens with a showcase of performances by the distinguished faculty artists in a festival gala concert event. Afterward please join us for a pre-packaged reception on the patio honoring the performers and the start of the concert year.
