Twiggs County Class of 2021 Valedictorian Aylah Birks was surprised by Twiggs County High School, her family and the City of Jeffersonville when May 19 was officially proclaimed Aylah Maresa Birks Day. Pictured with her mother, Cindy Curry-Birks, and brother Javandon Shropshire, Aylah graduated with $4.7 million in scholarship offers from 116 colleges and universities. She also received the prestigious Gates Scholarship. She will attend Mercer University this fall as a Mercer Presidential Scholar, double majoring in psychology and legal studies with double minors in communications and public health. 2. The Griffith Family Foundation presented five elementary schools in the Bibb County School District with grants of $20,000 to assist them to better meet the needs of their students.
