39 'Even though the business is black-owned, our clients are diverse because I love everybody. I knew downtown was the only place to build a business and attract that diverse group.' — Tiara Groce aspirational community values like belonging, pride and enthusiasm, which further our efforts at NewTown Macon to foster a vibrant economy and an authentic downtown experience." Lending her own authenticity and unique perspective to the downtown scene is Tiara Groce, owner of X-Art Sip and Paint Lounge. Raised as an art lover, it wasn't until the birth of her first child that Groce decided to turn her passion into a business. Starting as a mobile business in 2016, she's now on her second permanent location downtown, having outgrown the first. Her space is a mix of art gallery and studio space to host groups and drop-in painting events. "Even though the business is black- owned, our clients are diverse because I love everybody. I knew downtown was the only place to build a business and attract that diverse group," she said. "Downtown is comfortable, it's neutral, it's a safe haven and welcoming." Now with two children to support, Groce has a definite drive to work hard for her family. "I always dreamed of owning my own business, but I had no idea it would be filled with art," she said. "When that happened, I realized there's no way I cannot do this. It's a wonderful way to support me and my family, and there's no place I'd rather do it than downtown."
