S P E C I A L A DV E RT I S I N G S E C T I O N WHAT IS THE MISSION OF YOUR BUSINESS? To assist in the creation of mentally healthy environments through preventative and supportive counseling education, thera- py and advocacy. WHAT ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF ABOUT THE SOUTHERN CENTER FOR CHOICE THEORY? That we have remained in business for 10 years and that we are constantly learning new ways to support our community. For ex- ample, some of the projects we have implemented over the last 10 years include 10,000 Kisses, Red Dress party, laundry days, food pantry and drum circles. We have learned that the person within the context of the environment is who we have to work with and if that person is hungry, their hunger can slow the process of change. YOU MIGHT BE SURPRISED THAT: While we work with people who have been diagnosed with some mental illnesses, we are really more interested in primary prevention. Everything we do is our best attempt to deal with what is happening right now in a person's life, contextually. But we also look for ways to keep what is happening from happening again. 2021 Live Well GLORIA SMITH CISSÉ THE SOUTHERN CENTER FOR CHOICE THEORY, LLC 411 HOLT AVENUE, MACON 478-741-1268 SCCTGEORGIA.COM 56 maconmagazine.com | DECEMBER/JANUARY 2021
