MAHARSH PATEL, MD 3708 NORTHSIDE DRIVE | MACON 478-745-4206 | ORTHOGA.ORG What is your role at OrthoGeorgia? As an Orthopaedic Hand and Upper Extremity Surgeon at OrthoGeorgia, we serve patients from 125 counties in Georgia. My mission is to help restore function and improve the quality of life of people with upper extremity issues involving the shoulder, elbow or hand. The hand and upper extremity are so important in everything we do in our day- to-day lives. Together, we can make sure patients can do the activities they enjoy and live their lives the way they desire. What is the most gratifying part of your job? Seeing people who come to me with a problem, giving them a correct diagnosis, helping them understand their diagnosis and working with them to achieve the best possible outcome, is the most gratifying part of my job. It is by assisting others that we are afforded the opportunity to reflect on who we are and how far we have come. Any advice for those pursuing an orthopaedic career? Put your head down and keep pushing forward. Your desire and passion for your work will get you far. Find a mentor and learn as much as you can from him or her. And remember that even when you have a tough day, you still have the best job in the world. How does OrthoGeorgia serve our community with inclusivity in mind? We do not exclude anyone who may need our care. Anyone and everyone – no matter what age, gender, race, creed or socioeconomic status – is always welcome at OrthoGeorgia.
