ONE OF THE COUNTLESS THINGS I love about Macon and the entire Middle Georgia area is the people. You will not find more kind, caring people anywhere else on the planet. I learned that fact a long time ago, when people in Middle Georgia helped my nonprofit animal welfare group, Central Georgia CARES, on our journey to eliminate the archaic gas chamber at Macon Animal Control. This was used for decades to deliver euthanasia as a way to manage animal overpopulation. It was a very bleak time for people and animals until CARES and other animal lovers knocked down that gas chamber. In recent months, we've been experiencing scary and uncertain times because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It's caused a lot of anxiety about how our future looks. In addition to the fear of getting the virus, there is the fear of job loss and the ability to support your family. Unfortunately, many people already have suffered a COVID-19 related financial setback. Many of these people have beloved furbabies that they're struggling to feed. Some may even be considering surrendering their furry family member in order to reduce expenses. Because we understand how strong the emotional bond between people and animals is, and because we need our pets now more than ever, CARES wants to help make sure those families stay together. Thanks to a grant from the Clayton and Carol Paul Foundation and pet food from the Ginny Milner Foundation, CARES has helped so many families with pet food during this pandemic. The emotion and gratitude CARES hears from the food recipients reaffirms our knowledge that pets mean so very much to the families who love them. It is an honor to be able to offer this relief to people who care so much for animals. Once again, CARES and the wonderful people of Macon come through to help; it's what we do. If you know of anyone who has been impacted by COVID-19 and needs help feeding their pets, contact me on Facebook at AC Pup – Central Georgia CARES or call 478-390-3801.– PATTI JONES AC PUP Delivering a helping hand in uncertain times LET US HELP PLAN FOR YOUR NEXT EVENT WITH OUR TRAINED STAFF READY TO MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR YOUR GUESTS!
