APRIL/MAY 2020 | maconmagazine.com 51 THE MISSION OF MY BUSINESS: Our mission is to provide pet owners with a treat that is made using the best ingredients, free from additives and fillers. Good Boy Goodies! are treats everyone can feel great about giving their furbabies! THE MOST GRATIFYING PART OF MY JOB: The dogs! Seriously, the dogs are my favorite! But it's also gratifying to know that I'm providing a treat that is not only good to them but most importantly good for them. HOW I DEFINE SUCCESS: For me the definition of success changes daily. Some days it is just getting out of the bed but other days it is seeing the pure joy of a dog owner and their pet as they encounter Good Boy Goodies! delicious treats for the first time. They say that life is just a series of dreams realized and I feel that I am successfully realizing one of my biggest dreams at this moment in time. MY ADVICE FOR YOUNGER WOMEN WHO WANT TO START A BUSINESS: Use all the great resources that Macon has to offer to do your research. Research your product, your competitors, your market and your customer. Be realistic: Make a list of both your strengths and weaknesses and look for partnerships that can assist you in the areas where you are weak. YOU MIGHT BE SURPRISED THAT: As a kid living in the inner city of Detroit, my mom signed me up for track to keep me out of trouble and when I was 14 I beat Florence Griffith Joyner's track record. Actually, I could have gone to the Olympic trials but I chose not to do so. I don't regret that decision because I love the path my life has taken me. LOOKING BACK, I WISH I HAD KNOWN: That even on my worst days I'm still enough. So, now I strive to be the very best version of myself – every single day.
