It's also making good use of the long-leaf, loblolly and slash pine lumber that is cut and milled on site by Buckner and his father, Mike. Mike Buckner is an inveterate craftsman who has lately been laying track around the farm for his meticulously restored steam engine locomotives and tending the family's 19th century gristmill. The mill continues to crank out whole-wheat flour and coarse grits on a daily basis. John Buckner drew up a design for the table and went to work. After a few long days in his Junction City workshop, he emerged with a classic farm table - simple and elegant with slightly tapered legs, matching benches and old-school construction techniques. "There are no nails or screws in it," Buckner said while enlarging the image on his phone with twist of his fingers. "As much of it - if not all of every item we make - is made of wood." "After we finished it," he continued, "we took it to her, and she loved it. Everyone who saw it had the same reaction: 'Oh, wow, you built this?' " In the ensuing years, Buckner has continued to refine his craft, producing unique furniture from local and reclaimed materials that incorporates classic Southern designs, modern style and a touch of eclecticism. He's also been spreading the word about his work. "It's all pretty much through word of mouth," Buckner said, before adding a caveat. "Of course, I do a lot of social media stuff with it, so every time I'm working on a piece, I will take photos using Instagram and post them on Twitter and Facebook of the progress, and then the final product, and that gets people's attention." "We were so excited to have John work on two pieces for us," writer Leila Regan-Porter said, Homemade Handcrafted Authentic Italian Dinner Monday - Saturday Lunch Thursday - Saturday Private Dining Room Available 4581 Forsyth Road 478.405.5660 marcomacon.com Specialty Wines & Gifts Join our Wine Club! • Monthly Wine Tastings, 3rd Tuesday of the month, 6-8 pm • Join us at "Vindulge" our monthly wine education class More than 60 wines under $16 We also have Riedel wine glasses available for purchase! 3090 Vineville Ave 478.745.7735 If your family can't agree on where to take a Vacation, Funeral? how do you expect them to agree on what's best for your Some things are so tough to express to your family you just never do.
