Chambray is not only very trendy but super versatile. It will be the workhorse of your spring and summer wardrobe. Wear it tucked into a skirt, or unbuttoned over a blouse or dress! Definitely pack it for all your weekend getaways. A pair of pointy toe shoes. It doesn't matter if they are flats or heels, they will instantly update your look to bring it into this season. A longer, pendant necklace. Recently it has been all about the chunky, short necklace. But if you want a refreshing change in the new season, opt for a long, pendant style necklace. If you really want something that will be girly and fun, get a long tassel necklace. Spring Fashion Forecast Bright, light, with a chance of stripes Are you ready to shed the boots and layers and feel some warm sunrays? What will your go-to look be this spring? As with every new season, we can expect a new crop of must-have items that will be popping up in stores everywhere. Here are some new looks for you to choose from: Select a new fancy dress in a fun, bright color. Pick one that is wedding appropriate that can also get you through any brunches, showers or garden parties you might be attending. Then later in the summer get the best bang for you buck by dressing it down with flats and maybe give it a whirl on a First Friday downtown. Finding a dress now for big events coming up will save you some time and stress later on. Stripes: Bold stripes are one of the hottest looks for spring and summer this year, and lucky for us, it is a fun look to wear. On the runways, it was seen as a headto-toe look, but if you want to make it more everyday friendly, get one boldly striped item and work everything else around it. Striped Cotton Shirt. You might not realize the versatility of a great fitting, striped cotton shirt until you have one. If you're new to mixing prints, stripes are a great base item to work around. You will be able to mix and match this item all spring and summer. Pointed toe shoes: Coming off of several years of ballet flats and more rounded-toe kicks, this year's shoe forecast offers a lot of sharp angles. The great news is this look lengthens your leg. The bad news is, if they get too pointy you can end up 24 l Macon Magazine looking like the wicked witch of the west, especially if you have larger feet. So as always, picking and choosing the styles that work best with your body type is the way to go. (Take a tip from Coco Chanel: nude shoes with a black cap toe can make your legs look amazing while making feet appear smaller.) Black and white trend: According to most fashion experts, black and white never really go out of style. But for spring, when people usually are wearing more color, black and white this year are actually a fashion forward way to go. They're classic, flattering on most, and the best part is: You probably already have plenty of this in your closet. The big hitters will be: black-and-white stripes, color blocking and prints. Midi skirts: Last year the maxi skirt seemed to dominate the runways, but this year it has been all about the midi skirt. Midi skirt, of course, means: mid-way april/MAy 2013
