With a view to keep expanding and growing for another 35 years, the Museum of Aviation Foundation turned to the Community Foundation of Central Georgia to create a new endowment fund to help support operating costs and capital projects. "We decided that it was time for us to think about future growth and develop a plan for how we would fund new education programs or even a new building in the future," said Jenny Maas, director of operations for the Museum of Aviation Foundation. "The Community Foundation has been very supportive of us in the past with grant funding for our National STEM Academy, so we knew they were a natural fit to help us with our new endowment fund." The fund opened with a $25,000 contribution from a longtime museum supporter, and through a challenge grant, the Community Foundation has pledged to match up to $25,000 more in contributions. "We look forward to future growth and hope that anyone who wants to support tourism and education in Middle Georgia will support our endowment fund," Maas said. "When I met with the Community Foundation, I was floored by how many organizations throughout our region have their endowments with the Community Foundation. We could not have gone to a better place to start our endowment fund." —Jenny Maas dIreCTor oF oPeraTIons, MuseuM oF avIaTIon FoundaTIon n O n p rO f i T e n d OW m e n T S | 10 co m m u n it y fo u n datio n o f c e ntra l g eo r g i a nonprofit endoWmentS The Tubman Torchbearers are a dedicated group of community volunteers and members of the museum whose mission is to raise funds for the museum.
