Wheeler Park, the city's oldest and most centrally located park, is the focus of a master plan improvement project helmed by the Community Foundation of Coffee County (CFCC), an affiliate of the Community Foundation of Central Georgia. "We have a donor who is interested in bettering Douglas, and this idea grew out of us visiting other parks and seeing what was happening and thinking about what we could do here," said Lindsay Day, CFCC board member. Thanks to the donor, Interface Studio was hired to develop a master plan for the park, and CFCC has taken the lead in forming a partnership with city officials, as well as hosting commu- nity input sessions. "We were so excited about the community turnout and it felt, especially for the donors and the CFCC board, like a really nice validation for the project. There are so many people who care about the park and have great, sup- portive ideas," Day said. "It's exciting to see how interested people are, and if we can get this ball rolling, what else we can do, together." leaderShip Coff County partnershIps wIth a purpose WheeLer Park MasTer PLan
