Have you ever felt compelled to support a cause, movement or organization, but you paused when you weren't sure where to start? Do you want to find answers, generate discussion or connect with a person, but simply don't know where to begin? Start with showing up. If we want to be the kind of community that is known for how well we support our own and generate more good, it starts with y-o-u. Be present for the person, cause and community. For nearly 34 years, Macon Magazine has been a strong pillar in building the community that is here. While the penned and paged version of the magazine is what we will always do best, we aim to bring it to life through getting out of our office (newly at 1083 Washington Ave.) and being present with you, providing the space to connect you with the important and great stories, the people who make them and the places that foster them – celebrating all the while. Over this blazing hot summer we kicked up Women In Business Summer Sessions, and we were coworking in cool locales with nearly 100 women by the third session. Look for more this fall. We hosted a family fun day of tailgating for Mercer University's first home football game, and we will do more of that, bounce houses included. Just as we go to print, we are hosting our first Stirup to Startup, rethinking happy hour to engage with startups and their supporters. You're invited, reader. Find out more at the new maconmagazine.com. Join us. We haven't done it alone. And, we wouldn't be doing any of it if you didn't show up. But you did. You are. With the stories in these pages and those on our growing list, I assure you we are not lacking in great stories and people who are giving back and deserving of our focus. I will celebrate 10 years in Macon this Halloween, and I am more ready than ever to spread our stories and push for more good in this beloved community I wrote about in my first issue as publisher a year ago. After all, this is the place that needs our time, talent and treasure now – our intentional presence. Susannah C. She said yes to being our illustrator in residence at a Women In Business Summer Session, and now women all over Macon have their own original portrait for their desk, boudoir or online profile image.
