What is the mission of your business?
We are dedicated to our
patients, committed to our associates and challenged by our
customers to deliver excellence.
What sets your business apart? Our commitment to quality care for
the people we serve, including our associates and business partners,
sets us apart. Patients are the heart of what we do every day, and we
strive daily to build and bring positive outcomes for our patients; I
think that we are successful in these efforts.
What makes you a strong leader? I follow the same rules I expect from
our staff; it's the only way to persuade others to follow. You must set
the pace and take a positive approach. I try to do this every day.
What is the most common question you receive? I am often asked
why I chose to be a long-term health care administrator, instead of
a hospital administrator. My response is often, "I chose this arena
because I love the connection with the elderly, and I wanted to
have the ability to really change their lives. A skilled nursing center
administrator has the ability to do that."
You might be surprised to know: Most people don't know that long-
term care centers don't just serve the stereotypical idea of an elderly
patient anymore – we serve all ages. And we love to have fun with
our patients!
Advice for those seeking to get started in your field of business: I would
advise anyone interested in this field to really explore their motivation
for choosing long-term care. This is a business of serving others –
from your patients and families to your staff and business partners.
You must be able to multitask; and always have time to listen.
