With this year's set of 5 Under 40 young leaders, we are poised to continue our spirit of collaboration while honoring our roots and finding new ways to create more opportunities for everyone in our community. Macon Magazine began spotlighting young leaders in 2001, and with the 2019 class, there are 90 leaders who remain committed to our mission of encouraging and celebrating servant leaders who guide with intelligence, compassion and inclusion. I believe the success of our young leaders directly affects Macon's success. Our young leaders require our support and attention. Learn more about the causes they are passionate about. Offer to further connect them in this community or in a new community that may benefit them. Be a mentor. Leadership doesn't have a singular face. You'll see it reflected throughout these pages in stories that shine light on some well known, and a few lesser known, community heroes. Read about their triumphs, challenges and hopes for the future of our community. Let their stories inspire you to be open to new ideas and ways for leading the heart of Central Georgia forward as the hub of good doing for the prosperity of this region. I took the helm of Macon Magazine a year ago, and what a challenging and fulfilling journey it's been. I remain honored to seek, share and celebrate our great stories and the people who make them. ank you for your support. ank you for reading. ank you for your feedback. My loyal team and I are listening and are ready to hear from you. I hope this magazine continues to make you prouder of our city and Central Georgia. As I write this, my daughter is days from beginning her pre-Kindergarten year at Vineville Academy of the Arts, a school that is serious about leadership from the start, like all Bibb County School District schools. May she and all of our children be raised to witness and to know Macon's servant leadership culture. Let's keep a good thing going, reader. Susannah C.
