HOFFMAN, MD TOTAL JOINT SPECIALIST IN AUGUST Dustin Hoffman, M.D. is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in surgery of the hip and knee. A native of Warner Robins, he graduated cum laude from the University of Georgia and obtained his medical degree from Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon, GA. Dr. Hoffman went on to complete an orthopedic surgery residency at Summa Health System in Akron, Ohio where he was Chief Resident. While there, he presented research at medical meetings and has published on the direct anterior hip approach. With a deep commitment to providing the best outcomes possible for his patients, Dr. Hoffman completed a fellowship at Emory University in Adult Reconstruction. This training included complex total joint replacement and revision total joint surgery. In addition, Dr. Hoffman is specialty trained in the newest techniques of minimally invasive hip and knee replacement surgery including partial joint replacement, alternative bearing surfaces, and robotic surgery. As the region's first and only fellowship trained total joint specialist, Dr. Hoffman is excited to bring the newest and highest quality procedures in total knee and hip replacements. This includes extensive training in the minimally invasive anterior total hip arthroplasty. The muscle sparing approach allows the surgeon to replace the hip from a small incision on the front of the hip as opposed to the side or back of the hip. Since no muscles are removed from the bone, the patient experiences a less painful and faster recovery after hip replacement without the need for "hip precautions." Additionally, Dr. Hoffman specializes in outpatient and same- day total hip and knee replacements, bikini incision total hip replacements, and patient specific replacements.
