I asked him to give Macon a challenge during a recent lunch hosted by the Knight Foundation at Mill Hill Community Arts Center in East Macon. His response struck a chord in me. „ere are countless reasons why Macon should top lists on a national, if not international, level. Our music scene, young talent, historic landmarks and storied past are just a few that come to mind. „e meeting was intended to introduce him to Macon, and I get the sense that we are now on his radar. But how do we turn that kind of awareness into results? I wonder, when you are at dinner with friends in another city, what are the stories you share about Macon? I believe it is our civic duty to share the stories of the good we all experience in this place. And considering the alternative, where do we need to improve? Let's ask the hard questions. Who is not at the table? What are we missing? How can you help connect people to make relationships that form partnerships that bring about more prosperity here? I want to hear your answers. You might give us a great story idea. Susannah C. Maddux Publisher & Editor Historic Macon Foundation is making our community stronger through historic preservation, and we got noticed.
